Every busy household values a functional and organized main floor for all of life’s daily routines, workflow, entertainment and relaxation. This busy family of four required a more extensive and practical kitchen, a functional mudroom, an entertainment centre in the living room, and an aesthetic to bring continuity to the overall style of their home. The home’s original floor plan included an angular corner adjacent to the garage, which limited the flow and storage capacity in the kitchen. Restructuring the kitchen ceiling and squaring off this angle made room for a large island with a workstation sink, additional appliances, including a built-in coffee maker and integrated fridge and freezer columns, and ample storage solutions. The mudroom was upgraded with a new farm-style sink and floating bench for everyday coming and going, as well as new tile flooring extending into the nearby powder room. The living room was upgraded to include an expansive millwork display housing a dry bar, wine cooler, record collection, and audio-video equipment. Collectively, these spaces are finished with new white oak floors, hard rock maple and painted cabinetry, and a fresh coat of paint.
